I’m an Owl!

Updated: Oct 3, 2021

The first day of virtual learning for this school year, my high school son’s teacher asked them, “What animal are you?” “How do I know?” he asked. So, of course, he googled it. Ha! He found a very fun website called, “Animal in You,” and took the personality test. The whole family got involved and entertained ourselves learning all our animal personalities.

I learned I’m an owl. An owl has a quiet demeanor, is calm, eloquent, trustworthy, conservative and is guided by their spiritual senses. I would say the quiet demeanor and calm was all true until I had kids! Just being real. Being a mom over the past 15 years has changed and stretched me in so many ways. I plan to share more in future posts.

It didn’t say anything about fear. I am really good at living in fear. I figured this out while in graduate school. How did I decide to start tackling fear? By competing in triathlons, of course! It’s true! When my oldest was only 6 months old, I competed in my first triathlon. When I train, I memorize scripture. I learned that when I focus on God and not my fear, I can move forward.

God has used this to take me out of my comfort zone in so many ways, I never imagined. Like the owl, I use my spiritual senses to guide me. I am afraid to do so many things, so I focus on God one step at a time. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

So, here we go again, me and Jesus. He’s taking me out of my comfort zone and calling me to get back to blogging and begin the journey to writing and publishing children’s books. What is God calling you to do? Are you afraid? I encourage you to pray and watch to see what next step God is showing you. Focus on him, friend, not your fears, so you can move forward.

God, You are my light to my path. Amen!
